The 20th anniversary of Buffy the Vampire Slayer has us all over here feeling pretty old. Was it really that long ago that we met our friends in Sunnydale? And while weddings and vampires aren't necessarily a perfect combo, vampires and epic love stories are a match made in heaven, or at least the Hell Mouth. While we celebrate all things Buffy for the show's 20th anniversary, let's take some time to look back on that time Buffy and Angel got married… or didn't! Here's looking back on all the weddings that almost were on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Buffy and Spike, “Something Blue”
The mortal enemies (and later enemies with benefits) found themselves engaged, thanks to a wish spell from Willow. Before the spell wore off, it was all about the wedding planning, and we can only assume it would have been a pretty epic celebration. Guess we'll never find out if Buffy really did want “Wind Beneath My Wings” for her first dance or if Spike went by William the Bloody on the invitations.
Anya and Xander, “Hell's Bells”
They were our favorite demon-turned-bride and Xander-turned-groom couple around, but even these two couldn't get a “happily ever after” in Buffyverse. Not even a gorgeous strapless mermaid dress with a ruffled train could save Anya from the magic that brings future Xander to warn him of their tragic future. And of course, no wedding is complete without a little ex drama in a bridesmaid's dress, and Buffy and Spike fill that quota.
Buffy, "The Prom"
OK, this one isn't technically a wedding or a wedding dress, but Buffy did don a Vera Wang column dress for her prom-after kicking some demon butt, of course. Wang also created Sarah Michelle Gellar's own ethereal gown when she married Freddie Prinze Jr. in Mexico.
